MARRIAGE SERVICES

ACCORDING TO THE SHARIAA LAW

GETTING MARRIED IS ONE OF THE GREATEST AND MOST IMPORTANT LIFETIME EVENTS

At Al-Mahdi Islamic Center, we would be delighted to be part of your transition into married life. Our imam can perform the marriage ceremony and provide advice to the couple.
 

To schedule your marriage ceremony appointment:

  • Completely fill in the Marriage Application (see Below).
  • Call or Text (615) 256-2434

Marriage / Nikah services charges:

  • Administrative Fess $200
  • Gifts to the Imam conducting the marriage are also accepted.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:

Please Note you will need to make appointment (not earlier than 10 days before the date of Nikah) and provide documents and some requirements in advance (2-3 days before the date of Nikah):

  • The Civil marriage certificate, (registry office Certificate)
  • IDs, (passports , Driving licences)
  • Wali (The guardian) Acceptance and/or his Attendance ,(if any).
  • To tell about the amount of Assadaaq (the dowery) agreed upon (as it will be mentioned in the certificate)
  • The conditions if any,
  • Two males Muslim witnesses with their IDs.

Note:

  • The completed Application for Marriage/Nikah Form must be returned to the Masjid at least 5 days prior to the booked ceremony.

  • All parties must ensure they arrive on time. In case of late arrivals, the Masjid will have the right to cancel the ceremony and re-arrange to an alternative date.
  • Al-Mahdi Islamic Center will ONLY issue one original certificates by the end of the Nikah ceremony, which should be kept in a safe place for any future reference. Please note that the Center will not issue any more original copies, but instead will provide certified copies at a charge.
 
 

Please Note that an Islamic marriage (Nikah) is not recognized as a legal marriage in the United States.

Islamic marriages (Nikah) carried out/conducted in the United States are not recognized as marriages within the laws of United States. Al-Mahdi Islamic Center strongly recommend and encourage all Muslim couples who have either had/or are planning to have an Islamic Marriage in the United States MUST have a civil marriage conducted by their local County Clerk Office, so that their marriage will be recognized and they will be afforded marriage rights under the laws of the United States.5
